This class was all about color. And, lovelies, you know me... I'm all about color! We started off getting to know our palettes by painting out wash lines of each color on our palette. I want to start a new palette, so after some deliberation and a trip into the store to buy a new palette, I started painting out lines of each color I own. I got about a third of the way through.
Naturally, I ended up with a list of five or six more colors that I wanted, but I only bought four as I was attempting to behave myself. When I got home, I chilled out a bit. I had finally started something I've been wanting to do for over a year now, so I knew that I'd continue the paint-outs.
Before lunch, we were each given a lemon and told to paint it using whatever colors we had and not to worry about anything except conveying that it was a lemon. Here's the result. I'm not happy with the background, especially that turquoise mess in the lower right. But I am happy with the lemon itself! (That notch on the left happened when I tried to tear damp paper out of a spiral-bound book. Oops! We were hanging them all on the wall to compare.)
After lunch, we did a fun exercise. After being assigned one of four palettes with three specific colors, we painted the same still life four times, passing our plastic plate palette to the right after each one. For some reason, in this one instance, I seemed to be the speed demon of the group. Normally, I'm always the last one finished!
