This one has been in my workroom in various stages for two years now. Yes, TWO YEARS! I had this bright idea of doing a chunky book on the 50 States and talked a few people into working on it too. They were almost all fabulous and while one just couldn't finish due to personal issues, another dropped out after finishing her pages with no explanation and isn't answering emails, two have moved, and the worst is that two of us were gravely ill and one died.
I can't think about anything but Gina when I work on this project. She was such a dear person, a wonderful friend, so fun, and sooooo enthusiastic. She always encouraged me in my cockamamie ideas. She worked on NINE pages for this book that has 60 pages total! I miss her so much! I know that all of her friends and family do. But she always seems to be there in my art studio with me. She's a comforting, encouraging presence.
I just wish I had gotten them this far done before she died.
I have to thank my friends, Bev, Carol, Cathy, and DebMarie for all their help in getting it done. Without Gina and them, encouraging, doing extra pages, and just pushing me to get finished, this project would not be so near completion, even a year late.
So they are all finally spiral-bound with the largest spiral you can buy in small quantities. And they fill it to about 60% of it's circumference! Now I need to go through and make absolutely certain (for the third time!) that all the pages are there and are right side up! Then at last they can get into some two gallon ziplock bags and Flat Rate USPS boxes and get on their way!
Whew! That will be a happy day.

What a picture :) I don't think anyone realizes what a huge job hosting a fatbook is unless they've taken it on themselves. I remember those days!
It looks like you did a beautiful job on these. The cover is gorgeous.
As the happy owner of one of these, I can tell you that this book is FANTASTIC!! Many participants really put their all into it, even including old family photos and recipes, which is my favorite part.
I am inspired and moved by Gina every time I peruse my book. Gina made the most pages by far AND she made each page as if it was her best art project ever. I never met Gina, but I wish I had. Those who knew her must miss her incredibly!
And Marilyn went the extra mile for me and slammed my book together so that I could have it in my hot hands before we moved from Wisconsin to Colorado. I wanted to show the teachers at my kids' school and Marilyn made that happen. THANK YOU, MARILYN! =D

I thought I would leave a comment after reading this about Gina. I remember her telling me about all the pages she made and everything she ended up doing to further that book being finished. I know she would be happy now, if only she could see what a great job you have done getting these together, AND without her help and encouragement. Good job.
